Amplifier Families
AML manufactures a wide variety of amplifiers and subsystems covering the frequency spectrum from sub 1 MHz to over 26 GHz, offering the system engineer choices of frequency, gain, power and noise figure specifications. Most can be optimized for a specified frequency of interest and optional features are available.
Narrow Band Amplifer Series
AML's narrowband amplifier series exhibit outstanding performances as far as noise figure, output power and linearity is concerned, when compared with responses from any other topology implemented in octave or multi-octave amplifiers. Proven designs with noise figures below 0.5 dB, or attainable output P-1dB in excess of several watts and excellent linearity are offered, however without compromising stability, VSWR or passband ripple.
Octave Band Amplifer Series
Octave band amplifiers take advantage of the balanced topology circuitry, providing good input and output VSWR, stability and improved reliability. All units incorporate modularized gain stages optimized for best performances in gain, noise figure or power. Part of our design and documentation library, these modules permit a quick response to any amplifier demand, or allow ease of integration into a customer assembly.
Multi-Octave Band Amplifer Series
Multi-octave amplifiers or distributed amplifiers provide the highest gain-bandwidth product, making use of the additive amplification process inside two reactive transmission lines. All designs involve a careful choice of devices, number of devices and their location in the circuit. Particular attention is given to integrate all parasitic reactive components of active devices into the transmission lines that join them in order to offset any bandwidth limiting effects. Outstanding performances have been achieved regarding the flatness of these amplifiers, their noise figure and output power.
Limiting Amplifer Series
AML's limiting amplifiers consist of narrow and wide band low noise designs in conjunction with saturated output power stages. The high small signal gain complemented with saturated output stages attains the limiting effect of extremely wide range of incoming signals to a preset output value. Important features include narrow windows for saturated output flatness, low noise figure, low harmonic levels and excellent signal suppression. All designs employ thin film techniques for improved repeatability and additional controls to enhance the signal limiting function and suppression of undesirable harmonics.
Low Phase Noise Amplifier Series
AML's Low Phase Noise Amplifiers utilize MMICs and discrete transistors with the lowest phase noise available in the industry. Silicon Bipolar is the preferred transistor technology for lowest Phase Noise followed by InGaP HBT, then MESFET. Depending upon the frequency and power, AML uses a combination of these three technologies to meet customer requirements. 100% testing, device lot selection, and on-wafer variations are monitored to guarantee compliant performance.
High Intercept Amplifer Series
AML's High Intercept Amplifiers cover the frequency range of 1 MHz through 2000 MHz. They provide the system engineer with a wide range of frequency, gain, power and noise figure specifications while amplifying high level signals with low Intermodulation distortion. Our leading products offer Third Order Intercept Points in excess of 48 dBm and Second Order Intercepts in excess of 100 dBm. Operating voltages are 15V or 28V, depending on model.
Cellular & PCS Amplifiers
Power/Transmit Amplifiers
AML PCS amplifier designs meet the tough requirements imposed by today’s digital air interface standards. Lead edge products such as the upconverting cellular to PCS band TTU60W 60 Watt power amplifier employ embedded microprocessor and other innovative techniques that deliver the maximum of reliable performance to the infrastructure manufacturer. AML is well positioned to design and build "World Class" power transmit and low noise receive products to your specifications.
Receive Amplifiers
AML designs and manufactures a wide range of transmit, receive and signal distribution products for operation in the 800 to 1000MHz cellular frequency spectrum. Many products are designed to customer specification, others are standard products that address broad applications. For example, the M30 30 Watt multicarrier amplifier multiple air interface power amplifier operates in AMPS, CDMA and TDMA environments, and has achieved excellent market acceptance in many world markets.
Wireless Local Loop
The appeal of quickly deploying POT’s (Plain Old Telephones) in vast regions of the world with little existing "copper" infrastructure remains a prime motivator in the development of Wireless Local Loop systems. Compound this demand with the need for data transmission and internet access leads one to the conclusion that projected growth for WLL is likely to occur. AML products and ongoing R&D actively supports industry requirements for transmit and receive amplifiers that provide solutions for TDMA and W-CDMA WLL systems. AML Designs provide the efficiency, reliability and linearity associated with GaAs devices enhanced by AML’s predistortion technology supported by an embedded digital signal processing microprocessor. Full status and performance monitoring information is provided on discrete signal lines at the interface connector. Built in DC to DC converters permit operation from wide range DC input voltage. 2-Way Messaging
AML Two-Way Messaging tower top receive amplifiers provide the ultimate uplink sensitivity improvement. By using a combination cavity filter and low noise amplifier to set the system noise floor prior to the loss of the receive antenna to base station feed cable this product greatly enhances signal to noise ratio. A rack mounted smart controller injects the DC supply onto the antenna feed and monitors the tower top low noise amplifier operating conditions. AML also provides low noise, high dynamic range receive multicouplers suitable for mounting in the base station equipment racks. These products represent the highest levels of industry performance. AML power amplifiers address two-way messaging down-link requirements. Key on the RMPA-1 tab for more information on this representative product.
Receive Multicouplers
AML receiving multicouplers are built upon the extensive bedrock of in-hose intercept and passive component knowledge accumulated over years of R&D effort. Key elements of multicoupler excellence include a maximum of isolation between outputs with a minimum of contributed intermodulation products and low noise. Products are available for all applications from 32MHz to 3.5GHz. These bands include the popular cellular, messaging, public safety and the P, L & S band telemetry bands. Multicouplers are frequently designed to custom specifications, we want your business!
